Sprint Pcs Future Phones
Question for wirelessguy?
thanks wireless guy! but if i no longer have service with sprint (under contract) and i still have a phone from them (which they say is useless after it gets turned off), could you still have that phone unlocked and turned on with metro pcs? i also have a tracfone phone that i no longer use, could i do it with taht phone too?
i hear you have to have the software or something...cause i know when you first get a phone activated, they tell you the code and numbers you need to get the phone activated, [so would it be good to write them down for future references?] and could you actually do this with a contract phone and a prepaid service?
It isn't worthless, any other Sprint customer could activated that phone. You could sell this on ebay or to a friend with Sprint service.
The number they usually use to program your phone the first time is called a One Time Subsidy Lock Code, and works only 1 time. Then if you need to program again, they have to use the Master Subsidy Lock code, which is why I say to tell them the first one didn't work to force them to give you the Master. Then you can actually go in beyond where they stop you programming the phone and enter a new MSL code into the phone, which you could make all zeros.
You have to have Software for each phone to program code, which some call PST software. Then you have to have the proper bundle of code for that carrier as each has special features and settings.
Not sure on a prepaid phone, but assume it would be the same. MVNO phones (i.e. Virgin, Helios) are controlled by those companies and not Sprint, so not sure what they do.
Hope that helps.
Cheers!!!
